Rotate PDF
Rotate PDF pages by 90° or 180°, all at once or only the pages you pick, with a live thumbnail preview. Works in your browser, nothing uploaded.
Type pages and ranges, or tick the thumbnails below. Shift-click selects a run of pages.
How to rotate a PDF
- Drop a PDF file on the drop zone, or click it to choose one. A thumbnail of every page appears below.
- Under Rotate, choose All pages, or Selected pages to turn only some of them. To select pages, tick their thumbnails (Shift-click selects a whole run), use Select all / Select none, or type them in Pages to rotate, for example
1, 3-5. Ticking a page switches to Selected pages automatically. - Click ↺ 90° left, ↻ 90° right or 180°. The thumbnails turn straight away so you can check the result. Click again to keep turning, or use the ↻ button under a single page to rotate just that one.
- The line under the buttons tells you how many pages will be rotated. Reset cancels every pending rotation.
- Click Save rotated PDF, then Download. The file is named after the original, for example
scan_rotated.pdf.
How PDF rotation works
Every page of a PDF can carry a rotation setting that tells viewers to display it turned by 0°, 90°, 180° or 270° clockwise. This tool changes that setting; it doesn’t redraw the page. As a result, the rotation is lossless: text stays sharp and selectable, images are not recompressed, and the file size barely changes. Links, comments, bookmarks and form fields are kept.
Rotations add up. If a page is already stored with a 90° rotation and you click ↻ 90° right, it ends up at 180°. Two clicks on ↺ 90° left equal one 180°, and four quarter turns bring a page back to where it started, in which case it’s left untouched.
The thumbnails show each page as it will look after saving, so a page that was already rotated in the original appears with its existing rotation plus yours.
Typical uses
- Scans in the wrong orientation: a scanner or phone app often saves landscape documents sideways. Select those pages and turn them 90°.
- Upside-down pages: a sheet fed the wrong way round in a document feeder shows up upside down. Rotate it by 180°.
- Mixed documents: a report with a few landscape tables. Rotate only the table pages so they read correctly on screen.
Rotation is saved in the file, so the pages appear correctly in every PDF reader, on every device, and when printed.
Frequently asked questions
How do I rotate only one page of a PDF?
Click the ↻ button under that page’s thumbnail, or tick it, choose a direction, and save.
Can I rotate a PDF by 180 degrees?
Yes. Select the pages (or keep All pages) and click 180°.
Does rotating a PDF reduce its quality?
No. Only the page’s rotation setting is changed. The content itself is not re-rendered or recompressed.
My PDF looks rotated in one reader but not in another. Why?
Some applications ignore the rotation setting, or apply their own view rotation that isn’t saved. This tool writes the standard setting that PDF readers follow, so the saved file displays the same everywhere that respects the PDF standard.
Can I rotate a password-protected PDF?
No. The tool tells you when a PDF is encrypted or protected. Remove the protection in a PDF reader first if you’re allowed to, then try again.
