Merge PDF
Merge PDF files into one document in your browser. Drag to reorder, pick the pages to keep from each file, then download. Nothing is uploaded.
Files to merge
Drag the files by their handle, or use the arrows, to change the order.
How to merge PDF files
- Drop your PDF files on the drop zone, or click it to choose them. You can add more files at any time; they are added to the end of the list.
- Put the files in the right order. Drag a file by its handle (⠿), or use the Move up and Move down arrow buttons, which also work with the keyboard. The Remove button (✕) takes a file out of the list.
- Optionally, type in the Pages field of a file to keep only some of its pages, for example
1-3, 5. Leave it empty to keep every page (the field shows All). - Click Merge PDF. When the new document is ready, the tool shows its number of pages and its size.
- Click Download to save
merged.pdf. Use Clear to start over with a new set of files.
What the merge does
The tool builds a brand-new PDF and copies each page into it, one file after the other, in the order of the list. Pages are copied as they are: text stays selectable and searchable, vector graphics stay sharp, and images are not recompressed, so there is no loss of quality. Page sizes and orientations are kept too, which means you can combine an A4 report with a US Letter form or a landscape spreadsheet printout without any page being stretched.
Choosing pages from each file
The Pages field accepts page numbers and ranges separated by commas:
5keeps page 5 only;1-3keeps pages 1, 2 and 3;8-keeps page 8 through the last page, and-4keeps pages 1 to 4;3, 1, 2puts the pages in that order, and repeating a number repeats the page.
If a number does not exist in that file, the tool tells you which file and which entry is wrong before merging, for example “9”: this document ends at page 5.
Limits and good to know
- Password-protected or encrypted PDFs cannot be merged. This includes files that open without a password but forbid editing. Remove the protection in a PDF reader you trust, then add the file again. The tool shows a clear message instead of producing a broken file.
- Bookmarks and form fields. Page content, including links and comments, is copied, but the document outline (bookmarks) of the original files is not rebuilt, and fillable form fields may no longer be editable in the merged file.
- File size. The merged PDF is usually close to the sum of the originals. Fonts shared by several files are stored once per source file.
- Very large files are limited only by your device’s memory. A few hundred pages is fine on a typical computer; phones may struggle with several hundred megabytes.
Privacy
Everything happens in your browser, with JavaScript. Your PDFs are read from your device, merged in memory and saved back to your device. They are never uploaded to a server, which makes this tool suitable for contracts, invoices, medical forms or any document you would rather keep to yourself.
Frequently asked questions
How many PDF files can I merge at once?
There is no fixed limit. You need at least two files, and the practical ceiling depends on the total size and your device’s memory. Dozens of ordinary documents merge in a few seconds.
Can I change the order after adding the files?
Yes. Drag a file by its handle, or use the arrow buttons next to it. The number on the left shows the position of each file in the final document.
Does merging reduce the quality of my PDF?
No. Pages are copied without being converted or recompressed, so text, images and drawings look exactly as they did in the original files.
Why does the tool say my PDF is encrypted?
The file is protected by a password or by permissions that block editing. Such files cannot be safely copied page by page. Remove the protection first (you need the right to do so), then try again.
Can I merge only some pages of a file?
Yes. Type the pages you want in the Pages field next to that file, such as 2-4, 7. Files with an empty field are merged in full.
