Reorder PDF Pages

Rearrange the pages of a PDF by dragging thumbnails, reverse the order or interleave scanned fronts and backs. Runs in your browser, no upload.

Pages you leave out keep their current order after the ones you type.

How to reorder the pages of a PDF

  1. Drop a PDF file on the drop zone, or click it to choose one. A thumbnail of every page appears under Page order.
  2. Change the order in any of these ways: - drag a thumbnail and drop it before or after another page (a coloured bar shows where it will land); - use the ← and → buttons under a page to move it one place earlier or later. They work with the keyboard and screen readers too; - type an order in Type an order (optional), such as 3, 1-2, 5-, and click Apply this order; - use Reverse order or Interleave halves for whole-document changes.
  3. The line above the thumbnails summarizes the new order, for example “New order: 3, 1-2, 4-10”. Reset order brings everything back to the original.
  4. Click Save new order, then Download. The file is named after the original, for example report_reordered.pdf.

Each thumbnail shows its new position in the corner and its original page number below, so you always know which page is which.

Typing an order

The field accepts page numbers and ranges separated by commas, using the original page numbers. The pages you type come first, in the order you type them, and every page you leave out follows in its current order. With a 10-page document, 10, 1 moves the last page to the front and gives 10, 1, 2, 3… 9. Nothing is ever lost or duplicated: each page appears exactly once.

Reversing and interleaving

Reverse order turns the document upside down: the last page becomes the first. That fixes a stack that was scanned from the back, or a document printed in reverse.

Interleave halves takes the first half of the pages and the second half and alternates them: with six pages you get 1, 4, 2, 5, 3, 6. It is designed for double-sided paper scanned on a single-sided scanner: you scan all the fronts, then all the backs, and end up with one file that holds the fronts followed by the backs. Interleaving puts each back right after its front.

If you turned the stack over to scan the backs, they come out in reverse order (the back of the last sheet first). Tick Second half in reverse order (double-sided scans) before clicking Interleave halves, and the tool reads the backs from the end so every page lands in the right place. With an odd number of pages, the first half gets the extra page.

What is kept

The tool moves the existing pages inside the document instead of copying them to a new file. Text, images, links, comments, bookmarks and form fields all stay as they were, and nothing is recompressed. Only the order changes. Encrypted or password-protected PDFs can’t be reordered; the tool tells you so.

Frequently asked questions

How do I move a page to the beginning of a PDF?

Drag its thumbnail before page 1, or type its number in Type an order (optional) and click Apply this order.

Can I reorder pages on a phone?

Yes. If dragging doesn’t work in your mobile browser, use the ← and → buttons under each page, or type the order you want.

How do I merge scanned front and back pages?

Scan all the fronts, then all the backs, into one PDF. Load it, click Interleave halves (ticking the reverse option if the backs came out last page first), then save.

Are my links and bookmarks preserved?

Yes. The pages themselves are moved, so links, bookmarks and form fields that point to them keep working.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The file is read, previewed and rewritten in your browser, and the result is saved straight to your device.
