Extract PDF Pages
Extract pages from a PDF and save them as a new document. Pick pages from thumbnails or type ranges like 1-3, 5. Runs locally in your browser.
Type pages and ranges, or tick the pages below. Pages are saved in the order you type them.
How to extract pages from a PDF
- Drop a PDF file on the drop zone, or click it to choose one. The tool shows the file name, number of pages and size, and a thumbnail of every page.
- Choose the pages to keep, in either of two ways:
- tick the pages under Pages (use Select all or Select none to go faster); the field above updates as you click;
- or type them in Pages to extract, for example
1-3, 5, 8-. The thumbnails follow what you type. - Click Extract pages. The tool creates a new PDF that contains only those pages and tells you its number of pages and size.
- Click Download to save it. The name reflects the pages you kept, such as
report_pages-1-3-5.pdf.
Choosing and ordering pages
The Pages to extract field accepts page numbers and ranges separated by commas. 4 is a single page, 2-6 is a range, 8- runs from page 8 to the end of the document, and -3 covers pages 1 to 3.
Pages are saved in the order you type them. That makes extraction a quick way to reorder a document too: 3, 1-2 produces a PDF that starts with page 3, followed by pages 1 and 2. If a page appears twice, for example in 1-5, 3, it is kept only once, at its first position.
Ticking thumbnails always rewrites the field in normal page order, so if you want a custom order, type it last, just before you click Extract pages.
When an entry can’t be used, the tool explains why instead of producing an unexpected file: a letter or a typo, a page 0, a range written backwards such as 7-4, or a page beyond the end of the document (the message tells you where the document ends).
Extract or split?
Extraction creates one new PDF from the pages you pick. If you need several files instead, for example one per chapter or one per page, use the Split PDF tool. To assemble pages from several documents, use Merge PDF, which also lets you keep only some pages of each file.
Quality and limits
The selected pages are copied as they are, without being rasterized or recompressed. Text stays searchable and selectable, images keep their resolution, and links and comments on those pages come along. The document outline (bookmarks) and interactive form fields are not rebuilt in the new file.
Encrypted or password-protected PDFs, including files that open freely but forbid editing, can’t be processed: the tool tells you so, and you can remove the protection first. Thumbnails of very long documents are drawn only as you scroll, so even files with hundreds of pages open quickly.
Privacy
Your PDF never leaves your device. It is opened, previewed and rewritten in your browser, and the new file is saved straight to your computer or phone. Nothing is uploaded, logged or kept.
Frequently asked questions
How do I save just one page of a PDF?
Type its number in Pages to extract, or tick only that page, then click Extract pages and Download.
Can I change the order of the pages?
Yes. Type the pages in the order you want, such as 5, 2, 1. The new PDF follows that order.
Is my original PDF modified?
No. The tool only reads the original and creates a separate new file. The source document on your device stays exactly the same.
Why are some thumbnails blank?
Thumbnails are drawn as they scroll into view. A page stays blank with just its number if it could not be previewed, but you can still select and extract it normally.
Can I extract pages from a password-protected PDF?
Not directly. Open the file in a PDF reader with the password, remove the protection if you’re allowed to, then try again.
