How to make a printable calendar
- Choose the Calendar type: One month (1 page), Whole year on 1 page, or Whole year, one month per page (12 pages).
- Enter the Year and, for a single month, pick the Month.
- Pick the Calendar language (English or French) and the day the Week starts on: Sunday, as is usual in English-speaking North America, or Monday, as in Quebec, Europe and the ISO 8601 standard.
- Tick Show ISO week numbers if you plan by week number.
- In Public holidays, choose Canada (federal), a province or territory, the United States (federal), or None.
- Choose the Paper size (A4 or US Letter) and the Orientation (portrait or landscape).
- Check the preview below the options (it updates as you change them, or click Update preview), then click Download PDF.
The PDF is created in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, and you can print it at home or at a print shop, or keep it on a tablet.
What’s on the calendar
A one-month calendar fills the page with a large grid: one row per week (four to six rows), roomy boxes for writing, weekends shaded, and public holidays in red with their names written in the box. It’s the classic wall or fridge calendar.
The whole year on 1 page layout shows the twelve months as small grids (three columns in portrait, four in landscape), with holidays in red and a list of the holidays and their dates at the bottom of the page. It’s handy for planning vacations, school terms or project milestones at a glance.
The 12-page option prints each month of the year on its own page, in the same format as the one-month calendar, ready to be stapled or bound.
Week numbers
When Show ISO week numbers is on, each row starts with its week number according to ISO 8601: weeks run from Monday to Sunday, and week 1 is the week that contains the year’s first Thursday. That’s why January 1 can belong to week 53 of the previous year (it does in 2027, a year that begins on a Friday). With Sunday-first weeks, each row shows the ISO number of the Monday in that row. Some US companies number weeks differently (week 1 = the week of January 1): check with the week number calculator if in doubt.
Public holidays
Holidays are computed from their legal rules, not from a list, so any year works: fixed dates (Canada Day, Christmas), “nth weekday” rules (Labour Day, Thanksgiving), Victoria Day (the Monday before May 25) and Easter-based days (Good Friday). Canadian holidays follow the federal Labour Code and each province’s employment standards; US holidays follow the federal list (5 U.S.C. 6103). When a holiday falls on a weekend and a day off is given in lieu, that day is marked too, with the note “observed”. Holidays that are not days off in your workplace, or local holidays, are not included.
Printing tips
Print at 100 % (“actual size”) rather than “fit to page” so the margins stay even. A4 is the standard in most of the world; Letter (8.5 × 11 in) is the standard in Canada and the United States. Landscape suits a monthly wall calendar; portrait suits a planner or a binder.
Frequently asked questions
Can I get a calendar in French?
Yes. Set Calendar language to French: month and day names, holiday names and the week label are printed in French. Most French calendars also start the week on Monday.
How do I print a whole year on one page?
Choose Whole year on 1 page, then Download PDF. Landscape gives slightly larger months; portrait leaves more room for the holiday list.
Which holidays are shown for Quebec?
New Year’s Day, Good Friday, National Patriots’ Day, the Fête nationale on June 24, Canada Day, Labour Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas, as listed by the CNESST.
Does the calendar work for past or future years?
Yes, for any year from 1583 (the first full year of the Gregorian calendar) to 9999. Holidays follow today’s rules, applied to every year, except recent ones that start in their first year, such as the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (2021). For old dates, remember that many holidays did not exist yet.
Why does my calendar have six rows?
A month needs six rows when it has 31 days and starts on the last or second-to-last day of the week, or 30 days starting on the last day. The layout adapts the row height so the page stays full.
