Split PDF
Split a PDF into several files by page ranges, every N pages, or one file per page. Runs in your browser, so your document is never uploaded.
Separate ranges with commas. 8- means from page 8 to the end.
Every page becomes its own PDF file.

How to split a PDF
- Drop a PDF file on the drop zone, or click it to choose one. The tool shows the file name, its number of pages and its size.
- Under How to split, pick a mode:
- By page ranges: type the ranges in Page ranges (one file per range), for example
1-3, 4-6, 7-. Each range becomes a separate PDF. When you open a file, the field is pre-filled to cut it in two halves. - Every N pages: enter a number in Pages per file. With 2, a 7-page document gives four files: pages 1–2, 3–4, 5–6 and 7. - One file per page: every page becomes its own PDF. - Click Split PDF. The tool shows its progress, then lists the new files with their pages and sizes.
- Download the files one by one with Download, or all at once with Download all (ZIP).
Page range syntax
Ranges are separated by commas, and spaces are ignored:
| You type | You get |
|---|---|
1-3, 4-6 |
two files: pages 1–3 and pages 4–6 |
8- |
one file from page 8 to the end |
-5 |
one file with pages 1 to 5 |
2, 9 |
two one-page files |
1-4, 3-6 |
two files that share pages 3 and 4 |
Ranges don’t need to cover the whole document, and they may overlap: splitting only extracts what you ask for and never changes the original file. If an entry is wrong, the tool points at it before doing anything: 0 is refused because pages are numbered from 1, 5-2 is refused because the first page must come before the last one, and a page after the end of the document is reported with the actual last page.
File names
Each file is named after the original, followed by its pages, with leading zeros so that the files sort in the right order in any folder: splitting a 120-page report.pdf every 10 pages gives report_pages-001-010.pdf, report_pages-011-020.pdf and so on, or report_page-007.pdf for a single page. The ZIP archive is called report_split.zip.
Quality and limits
Pages are copied without conversion: text stays searchable, images keep their original quality, and each page keeps its own size and orientation. Fonts used on several pages are embedded again in each part, so the parts together can weigh a little more than the original.
Encrypted or password-protected PDFs, including files that only restrict editing, are refused with an explanation: remove the protection first. Bookmarks and form fields are not carried over to the new files.
Privacy
The PDF is read and split entirely in your browser. No page, name or metadata is sent to a server, so you can safely split bank statements, payslips or scanned identity documents.
Frequently asked questions
How do I split a PDF into single pages?
Choose One file per page and click Split PDF. Then use Download all (ZIP) to get every page in one archive instead of dozens of separate downloads.
Can I split a PDF into equal parts?
Yes. Choose Every N pages and enter the size of each part. If the page count is not a multiple of that number, the last file simply has fewer pages.
Does splitting change or delete my original file?
No. The original stays untouched on your device. The tool only creates new files from copies of the selected pages.
Why do the parts add up to more than the original size?
Resources such as fonts and logos that several pages share are stored once in the original, but each new file needs its own copy. The difference is usually small.
Is there a page or size limit?
There is no fixed limit. Very large documents depend on your device’s memory; splitting hundreds of pages works on a typical computer, but may be slow on an older phone.
