How to use the bingo card generator
- Choose the Game: 75-ball (B-I-N-G-O, 5 × 5), 90-ball (UK tickets, 3 × 9) or Word bingo (your own list).
- For word bingo, type Your words or phrases (one per line) and pick a Card size of 3 × 3, 4 × 4 or 5 × 5. The hint tells you how many different entries the size needs.
- Set the Number of cards (1 to 500) and, for 75-ball and odd-sized word cards, keep or untick the Free centre square.
- Type a Title on the cards, choose Cards per page (1, 2, 3 or 4) and the Paper size. Keep Add a caller sheet ticked to get a checklist of every call at the end of the PDF.
- Check the Preview, then click Download PDF and print. New cards draws a new set with a new Seed code.
Every card is different
The generator never repeats a card: two cards with the same set of numbers or words are not allowed in one set, even in a different order. With numbers this is never a limit (there are about 10¹⁷ different selections of numbers for a 75-ball card), but with a short word list it can be. Nine words on a 3 × 3 card with a free square give only nine different cards, for instance; the tool says so and tells you how many are possible, so you can add words or print fewer cards.
Seed codes: print the same set again
The cards are generated from the Seed code. The same code with the same settings always gives exactly the same cards, on any device. Write the code on your box of cards: if a card goes missing, or you need the set for next year’s party, type the code and print again. Each card also shows its number and the code, so a winner’s card can be identified.
The rules behind each format
75-ball bingo, popular in North America, uses a 5 × 5 card. The B column holds five numbers from 1 to 15, I from 16 to 30, N from 31 to 45, G from 46 to 60 and O from 61 to 75. The centre square is usually free. Players win by completing a line, the four corners, or the whole card, depending on the house rules.
90-ball bingo, the classic in the UK, Ireland, Australia and the French “loto”, uses tickets of 3 rows and 9 columns. Each row has exactly 5 numbers and 4 blank squares, so a ticket holds 15 numbers. The first column holds 1 to 9, the next 10 to 19, and so on up to 80 to 90 in the last one; numbers in a column go from smallest at the top to largest at the bottom, and every column has at least one number. Prizes go to one line, two lines and a full house.
Word bingo replaces numbers with anything you like: vocabulary words for a class, song titles for a music quiz, baby-shower gifts, meeting buzzwords or characters from a book. Each card draws its words at random from your list.
Running the game
The caller sheet lists every call: the numbers 1 to 75 grouped under B, I, N, G and O, the numbers 1 to 90 by tens, or your words in alphabetical order. Draw calls at random (numbered balls, a random number generator or slips of paper in a hat) and tick each one on the sheet as you announce it, so you can check a winning card quickly.
Frequently asked questions
How many words do I need for word bingo?
At least as many as there are squares: 25 for 5 × 5 (24 with a free centre), 16 for 4 × 4 and 9 for 3 × 3 (8 with a free centre). For varied cards, use at least one and a half times that number.
Can two players get the same card?
No. Within one set every card holds a different selection of numbers or words. Two sets made with different seed codes can, in rare cases, share a card, so use one seed per game.
Why is there no free square on a 4 × 4 card?
An even-sized card has no centre square. The option is available for 3 × 3 and 5 × 5 word cards and for 75-ball cards; 90-ball tickets never have one.
Which characters print in the PDF?
Any language. Western European text uses the standard PDF fonts; Greek, Cyrillic and Central European letters use an embedded font that is loaded only when needed. Other scripts, such as Arabic, Asian scripts or emoji, are drawn with your browser’s fonts and placed as images, so they print correctly but can’t be selected in the PDF.
Is the card selection random?
Yes, from a seeded generator: each seed produces a well-mixed selection, and the same seed always reproduces it. It is designed for fair play at home, in class or at a party, not for regulated gambling.
