Signature Generator
Create a handwritten-style signature by drawing or typing your name, choose the ink color and pen width, and download it as a trimmed transparent PNG.
Sign in the box with your mouse, finger or stylus.
Preview (transparent background)
Type your name or draw to see your signature here.
This makes an image of a signature, not a legal electronic signature: it doesn’t prove who signed or protect a document from changes. For contracts, use a certified e-signature service when one is required.
How to create your signature
- Under Method, choose Type it or Draw it.
- Type it: enter Your name and pick a Handwriting style. Caveat (handwriting) is a handwriting font that loads from this site, so it looks the same on every device. The four “(system)” styles use script fonts already on your computer, so their look depends on your operating system.
- Draw it: sign in the box with your mouse, finger or stylus. Faster strokes come out thinner, like a real pen. Undo removes the last stroke and Clear starts over.
- Choose the Ink color with the color picker or the Black, Blue and Navy buttons, and adjust the Pen width. Changes apply to strokes already drawn too.
- Check the Preview (transparent background): the checkerboard shows where the image is see-through. Its size in pixels is shown below.
- Click Download PNG. The image is cropped tightly around the ink, with a transparent background, so you can place it on any document, email or picture.
Everything happens in your browser: your name and your drawing are never uploaded.
A signature image, not a legal e-signature
This tool makes a picture of a signature. It is handy to sign a scanned form, add a personal touch to a letter, an email signature, a certificate, a mock-up or a presentation. It is not a legal electronic signature: an image can be copied and pasted by anyone, and it doesn’t prove who signed or when, nor lock the document against changes.
Many simple agreements accept an image of a signature, but for contracts, government forms or bank documents you may need a proper electronic signature service, which verifies the signer’s identity and seals the document with a certificate. When in doubt, ask the person or organization receiving the document what they accept.
Tips for a good-looking signature
- Drawing with a mouse is hard. A phone or tablet with your finger, or a stylus, gives much smoother results. Draw large: the image is recorded at high resolution and cropped afterwards.
- Blue ink makes it obvious that the signature was added and not photocopied, which some offices prefer; black is the safest choice for printing.
- A slightly thicker pen (4 to 5) survives printing and scanning better than a very fine line.
- Keep the PNG format. It keeps the transparency; saving it as JPG would add a white (or black) background.
- To put the signature into a PDF, use the Sign PDF tool, which can place a drawn, typed or uploaded signature on the pages you choose.
Frequently asked questions
Is the downloaded signature transparent?
Yes. The PNG has a transparent background and is cropped around the ink with a small margin, so it blends into any document or colored background.
Is a typed or drawn signature legally valid?
It depends on the document and the law where you are. An image of a signature is often accepted for informal agreements, but it isn’t a certified electronic signature. For important contracts, use a recognized e-signature service.
Why does the typed signature look different on another computer?
The “(system)” styles use fonts installed on your device, and each system has different ones. Choose Caveat (handwriting) for a consistent look: that font comes from this site and is the same everywhere.
Can I change the color after drawing?
Yes. Changing the Ink color or the Pen width redraws the strokes already in the box, and the preview updates immediately.
Is my signature saved anywhere?
No. The tool runs entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded or stored; close the page and the drawing is gone.
