Username Generator

Generate username ideas from your keywords, with adjective + noun styles, numbers, separators, leetspeak and the length rules of Instagram, X, TikTok and more.

This tool can’t check whether a username is free: that would need a request to each platform. Try your favorite on the platform itself before you settle on it.

How to use the username generator

    1. Type one or more Keywords (optional): your first name, a hobby, a game, a favorite animal. Separate them with spaces or commas. Accents and symbols are removed automatically, because most platforms only accept plain letters.
    2. Choose a Style: - Adjective + noun: two random words, such as SwiftOtter or CosmicMaple. No keyword needed. - Keyword + noun: your keyword next to a random noun, before or after it. - Adjective + keyword: a random adjective in front of your keyword. - Keyword + prefix or suffix: your keyword with an extra such as “the”, “real”, “hq” or “official”. - Mix of all styles: a bit of everything.
    3. Pick the Word list (English or French) used for the random words.
    4. Set Platform rules to only get names that respect a platform’s length and character limits. The rule in use is shown under the options.
    5. Fine-tune Capitalization (CamelCase or lowercase), Separator, Numbers (2, 3 or 4 digits at the end) and Leetspeak.
    6. Click Generate usernames for 20 new ideas. Use Copy next to a name, or Copy all to take the whole list.

    Platform rules used

Each platform has its own limits. The tool only keeps ideas that fit the one you selected:

    Platform Length Separators allowed
    Instagram 1–30 _ .
    X (Twitter) 4–15 _
    TikTok 2–24 _ .
    Twitch 4–25 _
    Reddit 3–20 _ -
    Discord 2–32, lowercase only _ .
    YouTube (handle) 3–30 _ . -
    GitHub 1–39 -
    Snapchat 3–15, starts with a letter _ . -

If you choose a separator a platform refuses, the tool swaps it for one it accepts (for example an underscore on X). Names never start or end with a separator and never contain two in a row. Platforms can change their rules, and some also refuse particular words, so check the final name on the platform itself.

    The word lists

The English and French lists were written for this tool: about 300 friendly, neutral words each (animals, nature, space, colors, positive adjectives). In French, the adjective follows the noun and agrees with it, as in “RenardAgile” or “TortueJoyeuse”; with a keyword, only adjectives that are the same in the masculine and the feminine are used, since the tool can’t know your keyword’s gender.

    Leetspeak swaps some letters for look-alike digits (a → 4, e → 3, i → 1, o → 0, s → 5, t → 7), at random, with at least one change.

    Tips for a good username

    • Short is easier to remember and to type: aim for 6 to 15 characters.
    • Keep the same name everywhere if you can; pick the strictest platform in Platform rules to find one that works on all of them.
    • Avoid your birth year or personal details: numbers from Numbers are random for a reason.
    • Say it out loud: a name that is easy to spell is easier to share.

    Frequently asked questions

Does the tool check if a username is available?

No. Checking availability would require sending requests to each platform, and this tool runs entirely in your browser without contacting any server. Try your favorite ideas on the platform before you settle on one.

Why are accents removed from my keywords?

Almost every platform only allows the letters a to z, digits and a few separators. The tool converts “Éloïse” to “eloise” so the ideas can actually be used.

Can I get the same username for Instagram and X?

Choose X (Twitter) in Platform rules: its limits (15 characters, underscore only) are the strictest, so the names also fit Instagram, TikTok and Twitch.

Why do some styles show adjective + noun ideas instead?

Keyword styles need at least one keyword. If the field is empty, the tool falls back to adjective + noun ideas and tells you so.

    Are the ideas random?

Yes. Words, digits and leetspeak changes are drawn with your browser’s cryptographic random generator, so each click gives a new list.
